The Kenton County Planning Commission consists of 20 citizen members appointed by the county judge/executive and mayors. They represent each jurisdiction's unique needs in Kenton County and play a critical role in deciding how land is used and developed throughout the county. Each planning commissioner is appointed to staggered, four-year terms by their respective jurisdiction or the planning commission.
The planning commission is responsible for tasks outlined in Kentucky Revised Statutes Chapter 100. These tasks include adopting a comprehensive plan and reviewing proposed zoning changes, development plans, land subdivisions, construction of cellular towers, and provision of public facilities.
