Your Role as Building Official:
As a Building Official, you’ll be an essential member of our Building Codes Administration team, responsible for overseeing construction projects and ensuring they comply with the Uniform Building Code. You’ll inspect a variety of structures, work directly with contractors and governmental agencies, and play a key role in making our community a safer, more sustainable place to live and work.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct thorough inspections on projects, from single-family homes to complex commercial buildings.
  • Interpret and enforce construction codes, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and document site inspections.
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to address project-specific challenges and goals.
  • Issue Certificates of Occupancy for approved structures and provide technical guidance when needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or fire science, or a high school diploma with 3+ years of hands-on construction experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents, including architectural and structural drawings.
  • Certifications: ICC certifications B1 and M1 for residential inspection, B2 and M2 for commercial inspections (or willingness to obtain within 6-18 months).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate clearly, manage relationships effectively, and maintain a customer-focused approach.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites, including stooping, crawling, and climbing as needed.
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening.
