Building Official

Planning    and    Development    Services    seeks    a    qualified    individual    to    fill   
 an    opening    in    the Building   Codes   Administration   Department.   This   position   
will   focus   on   ensuring that all buildings within the jurisdiction of PDS are completed safely 
per the approved construction drawings, specifications and  the  appropriate  uniform  building  
code  as  set  forth  by  the  Department  of  Housing,  Buildings  and Construction under the 
direct supervision of the Chief Building Official.


Required Qualifications include: Graduate of a College, University or Community College with an 
associate's or bachelor’s degree in construction/building management, engineering, architecture or 
fire science. High School graduates will be considered with a minimum of 3 years in a responsible, 
directly related construction position such as a foreman which required the ability to effectively 
read and interpret building plans and specifications. This position requires the individual to 
obtain at least a One and Two Family Dwelling Inspector level within 6 months of hire and Level I 
Building Inspector from the Kentucky Department of Housing within 18 months of hire.

The successful candidate must pass a post-offer drug screen and background check.
